A wooden garden shed with a green metal roof, surrounded by colorful flowers, potted plants, and a lawn. A gravel path leads to the shed, and there are trees in the background.
It’s 10 below zero and you wish you were in your garden? You can metaphorically be among the flowers in the middle of winter when you pass your painting in your living room. Imagine the warmth and have hope.

Welcome to Birch Haven Art Studio - A place where paint, pencils & petals come to life.

It may be a small space, but it’s big in personality and there is always room for you. I’m so glad you’re here.

This 144 square foot studio is more than a workspace. It is where pictorial stories are born; brush and pencil strokes come to life; colors dance their happy dance and inspiration both soothes and excites the senses. Every piece of work I give to you offers a glimpse into my heart and soul; shares a morsel of inspiration, beauty and positive energy with you.

As I walk my path in life my journey has been grounded in art and inspired by nature. I believe art and nature have the power to heal, inspire, empower and to convey a sense of love, empathy understanding and hope. Through sharing my paintings, drawings and other artwork, I hope to extend these qualities of life to you.

My goal is to bring nature inside to you, no matter the season. In our busy lives, we don’t always have time to get outside. By painting nature I give you the ability to feel the presence of nature, preserve your favorite blossom or remember your favorite landscape forever. You can revisit that scene or feeling anytime.

A little ditty about me

A woman with glasses and short dark hair resting her head on her hand, outdoors among bare tree branches with a clear blue sky in the background.

It’s a rather plain and ordinary story. I have no grandiose stories of travel or adventure. For me, the simple life is grand. Travel around my community, on local nature trails and field roads are the perfect adventure. These things bring me a great sense of peace; being grounded in the land that I was born in.

I was born, raised and graduated high school in Presque Isle, Maine. Instead of going straight to college when I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do in life…I worked. I tried various jobs, gaining life experiences, living my life, creating art, a home, tending relationships. I attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Maine much later in life. That was when I finally gave in and admitted that I had always known I wanted to go for art; when I finally stopped letting people tell me it wasn’t practical. I had the the best time; learned so much about art and life; met so many inspiring people. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2011 and honestly, it has still taken me awhile to figure out how to make a living as an artist. They don’t teach you that in school (wink wink). Life as an artist is as much about the journey as the destination. I now create in my personal studio, show my work in local galleries, in a local shop and have created this website to share my art with you on the www.

My work is inspired by being immersed in nature; fields and forests, gardens and flowers.

I love experimenting with different mediums and techniques, allowing my work to evolve organically. Many people will tell me I should focus on one medium. As an artist, I will be honest, that is hard to do. There are so many interesting things to try. Plus, artists are rule breakers anyway, right?

Most recently, I have been working with watercolors. I am enjoying their happy, vibrant qualities. They naturally dance on the page if you let them. I love letting them do their thing, letting go of the need for control. My floral watercolors are reminiscent of flowers swaying in the wind, wild in free in field and garden alike.

Art is deeply woven into my soul. I hope my art resonates with you and that it takes you on your own journey to find peace, joy and a connectedness to the earth we live in.
